Adventures in the cold....

My "circle of friends" sculpture...frozen but they are still hanging together. I dedicate these wintery blog entries to my friend John, who lives in Alaska. I tell him we have cold weather here and he laughs....as daily he lives within temps of 30-40 degrees BELOW freezing. Where cars and trucks are plugged in with big electrical cords so their gas doesn't freeze. I have been to Alaska only once and will be back someday. So...John....you are probably getting a chuckle out of these photos...I know I am a lightweight...but snow is snow and it is beautiful anywhere!!!
This is the road I walked to get to my mailbox. Hide loved to run ahead of me. I have jogged up this road many a time in warmer days.

I made this mailbox flag last summer...looks like it is holding up just fine and shines bright.

This is the drive to my house. You can walk up this road and go out of my gate into an even bigger open space. It was a fun walk. Got my mail and headed back to my warm house.

Litttle birdys need food too!!!

These little guys were so cute. I had to be still before they would come up to eat. They would hop around. After I went inside, within a few minutes all kinds of birds came to eat together.
MMMMMmmmmmm yummy...he chirps....

Hide, checking out the squirrels in the trees....

Standing on my back porch....
Designs in the snow....

Frozen snow and ice everywhere.....

I love where I live. Right now...you can see the open spaces between the trees...when spring and summer come...my house is hidden and surrounded by a wall of greenery. Thick bushes and full leafy trees...but not now!

Around near my front yard....

You can see a long way through the woods right now.
Crunch, crunch, crunch in the snow.

Quiet and white.....wilderness wonderland...

Everything frozen in nature's glass. Snapshots of the landscape on my way back from my walk.

I found my buffalo...she is white and covered with pearls....

Gayle and I. Jim and I.

The White Buffalo.....

Recently my friends and I attended an art opening at 50 Penn Place in Oklahoma City. While there we saw this beautiful white buffalo covered in hundreds of strings of pearls. Jim took the pictures. Gayle and I stood next to this beautiful animal. I wish I could have her in my own frontroom at home!!!

Antique doll with glass dress...this was fun!!!

This doll had no body. I bought just her head, her arms and legs in a thrift store. I have had her for sometime. I knew that eventually I wanted to create a dress for her somehow and I did.
I added a bow and an off the shoulder bodice. I positioned her arms with hands outward. My daughter suggested I put something in her hand...but have not thought of what or how just yet.
The colors of her dress are calico blue mosaic pieces, antique blue glass, smokey colored textured glass and burgundy glass. I also attached a few pewter colored glass gems for accent.

She has a trail of glass shapes on the back of her dress. I added a string of lights underneath, so her dress lights up. She does too.

I think she is ready for the ball.

Enjoyed this project. She would look great in some study, or on a desk or small table.

More saddles...this horse was friendly...

I enjoyed looking at all the different styles and craftsmanship in the leather.
Like the shot and outline of her face. It was a mare...she was laid back and let me pet her. She also had a nice neighbor. Another mare. I spent several minutes petting and talking to them both.

Horse Auction at Shawnee Expo Center.....horses are my friends....

Not looking too excited!!!
Cute and curious Palomino...

Wanted to meet me....
