Cutting, Foiling, and Fluxing each piece individually.
This is a close up picture of several of the mauve and silver/grey pieces already foiled. This involves pressing around the edges a copper colored tape with adhesive on the back. The petroleum jelly-like flux is rubbed onto each piece, which allows the solder to adhere to the surface of every edge. This enables each piece to be soldered together. Here is a close-up of all the silver/grey glass cut and organized before the foiling process begins.
2013 will mark my 13th year working with glass. My third year in painting. I push the envelope as far as what I can create with both mediums. Good things happen when glass breaks or mistakes happen...from there more is beautifully and meaningfully revealed.
