The many faces of this beautiful piece of glass art!
This glass piece shines in many different ways, it has many moods. The customers for this commission wanted mauve, silver/grey glass pieces with burgundy accents. It is thirty inches across and thirty inches tall. There are over two hundred and seventy individually cut, foiled, fluxed and soldered pieces of glass within nine panes. The frame is an antique window frame. As you can see in the bright light, it looks softer, lighter. This is a picture taken outside in the afternoon. This is a picture taken inside in the late afternoon. As you can see there are three antique silver/grey lead crystals hanging freely within each center pane. The top and bottom crystals have even smaller individual clear crystals hanging in the wire that attached the lead crystal to the glass. The piece also includes broken glass, mauve glass gems, and mirrored silver glass.
2013 will mark my 13th year working with glass. My third year in painting. I push the envelope as far as what I can create with both mediums. Good things happen when glass breaks or mistakes happen...from there more is beautifully and meaningfully revealed.
